Maranatha Missions Department

The purpose of the Maranatha Missions Department is to be the vehicle through which Maranatha Church responds to the great Commission of our Lord, Jesus Christ, as expressed in Matthew 28: 19-20; Mark 16:15; and John 20:21. We believe the Great Commission specifically means:

   1. Proclamation of the Gospel where it is not known (I Corithians 15:1-4);

   2. Discipleship of believers and formation of local churches where none now exist;
   3. Ministry to the total needs of the people - whether physical, mental or spiritual-
       as an expression of the love of God.

The Maranatha Mission Department partners with many mission ministries throughout the world to accomplish our purpose.  Activities of these ministries include: evangelism, church planting, training pastors, bible study programs, operation of orphanges, providing medical care, nutritional programs, prison ministry, youth ministires, counseling and operations of a school in Nan Colo, Haiti.

Special Projects/Programs

Maranatha Mission School – Nan Colo, Haiti

Maranatha Elementary Mission School is a non-profit corporation authorized by the Haitian Department of Education to offer primary student certificates. Nearly 275 students are enrolled, from pre-school to sixth grade. The school provides employment opportunities for the local communities, including: teachers, kitchen workers, janitors, administrative staff and support.

During the 2009 school term, nearly 17,000 meals were served to students. The school lunch may be the only daily meal for many of the students. Bible study is an important part of the daily school curriculum.

Haiti Mission House Construction

The construction of the Haiti Evangelical and Educational Ministry Mission House began officially on May 22, 2007.  Our goal is to complete the construction by the summer of 2010. The mission house, which is being built near Gonaives, will be a place for visiting missionaries to stay – a place for fellowship, learning and prayer.  The facility will also be used as a residence for career missionary, Sister Liz Proctor.  Tasks to be completed include:

§  Flooring – 11 areas – cost estimated at $4,045 US

§  Furniture and Fixtures (electrical, toilets, sinks, shelving, lighting, etc.)

§  Finish Work, including: painting, plastering and paving of a parking area

§  Estimated cost of completion is expected to be between $15K -$20K

Haiti High School Student Sponsorship Program

Sponsors help graduating students of the Maranatha School pay for costs associated with their high-school education.  Costs include: tuition, uniforms, school supplies, transportation, and fees. Sponsorship for the 2009/2010 term is $30/month or $360 annually. Currently, 31 students have sponsors, and 18 students are awaiting sponsors.
